How to fry eggs with magnets

Cooking with magnets is possible, it's hard to believe that you can cook with magnets. In this project will are going to learn how to fry eggs with magnets.
Magnetic energy is converted into heat energy by inducing a varying magnetic field into the frying pan.

According to lenz's law,  the current induced in a coil or block of metal due to a change in a magnetic field is directed to oppose the change in flux and to exert a mechanical force which opposes the motion. This means that the direction of the back EMF of an induced field opposes the changing current that  creates it.

The magnets are capable of inducing large amount of heat on the frying pan, depending on the speed of the DC motor and the magnetic field strength of the magnets.
In the vedio, the pan didn't get very heat due to low magnetic field, when the magnetic field of the magnets are doubled. The heat produced on the pan is doubled.

Materials needed.

  1. Five neodymium magnets
  2. Wooden disc
  3. DC motor
  4. 24 v DC power source
  5. Glue gum
  6. Screws
  7. Drill
  8. Plexiglass.

How does it work?

It simply works by principle of electromagnetic induction. When a coil of wire is placed into an varying or oscilating magnetic field, alternating electric current is induced into it. Thel current induced into the coil result from the vibration of the wire coil's electrons, the frequency of vibration of the electrons is equal to the frequency of the oscilating magnetic field.

But, when a solid iron block is placed into a strong varying magnetic field, the varying magnetic field pushes electrons back and forth thus, raising it kinetic energy. When the electrons aquire much kinetic energy, heat energy is produced, therefore the metal block gets hot.

So, in the project, varying magnetic field is produced from 10 neodymium magnets glued on a plywood and then made to rotate at high speed by means of a DC motor connected fed with voltage up to 24v.
When the magnets spins, it produces varying electromagnetic field. The frying pan which is a metal is placed over the rotating magnets and magnetic fields is induced into it. Thus producing heat enough to fry eggs.
