How to make an emergency power bank

In this article we are going to learn to learn how to make an emergency smartphone charger which can reliably charge a smartphone.
This emergency smartphone charger uses a circuit which converts 9v DC into 5v DC. We are going to be using a 9v hi-watt battery as the power source, it will not charge phones quickly, it's advisable to use a lead acid 9v battery  which can produce excess current for it to charge quickly.
You can use, lithium ion batteries from laptops (3 connected in series to give approximately 10v).

Materials and components.

  1. 9v battery
  2. Battery connector/plug
  3. LM7805CV regulator
  4. Wires
  5. USB cord.
  6. Two 1uf capacitors.

How it works.

Voltage is supplied from a 9v battery to a 1uf capacitor which filters the voltage and makes it stable. The LM705CV IC regulates the voltage into 5v and then feed it to another 1uf capacitor which gives it further filtering and then fed to a USB cord which is then connected to a smartphone  phone for charging.

The emergency smartphone charger might not charge phones quickly because, the battery doesn't supply much current like lithium ion  and lead acid batteries. To increase the current, connect 4 or more 9v batteries in parallel to boost the current four times.
